Introduction

Echo Chambers are closed off environments where individuals are primarily exposed to information that reinforces their existing beliefs. This amplifies mis-information and hinders exposure to opposing viewpoints

Description

This is a closed system where beliefs are amplified and reinforced. This is often done through communication and repetition where dissenting opinions are excluded.

This is not the same thing as a filter bubble which is a personalised online space where content is curated based on user preferences that are created by algorithms.

Examples

A good example of an Echo Chamber is when you follow the content of a Legacy newspaper or Broadcaster. Each media publication will create an Echo Chamber which creates a. safe and confirmable space for followers.
